Little Cousins

The last Thanksgiving Vacations I went to McAllen, Texas with my family. I was a lot of time with my 2 little cousins, they are both girls and 1 is 5 years old and the other one is 6 years old. I noticed something very odd, or something that maybe not a lot of people has seen. Little children love being in parks or somewhere there are plants, and they run and play all over the place. This made me think about them and maybe the human being loves nature just by nature, then is society that comes after and ruin everything, and that is what transcendentalism is about. Transcendentalism also talks about the man being good by nature, and I guess I agree with this. in the transcendentalism literature also talks about the good in a person being screwed up when the society comes into place, and I think this is because when you meet people you mix ideas causing people to fight and just becoming evil. Supposing, that we still live in Prehistory, where there is no technologies, where there is no language, where there is nothing, the man would kill animals, and many people right now may think that that is what makes the man evil, for disturbing nature, but that is incorrect, the man would kill that animal so he can save himself from starving to death, after he has all his basic needs, the man would not disturb anyone else and MAYBE that is what makes a man a good person. When a baby is born and grows up, they grow up with innocence, and in a way that makes the person good/not-evil. People that are evil are the ones that had to convert into evil for some reason, I do not think there are evil people just by nature, it couldn’t be possible. All of this I am writing about is due to my experience, and everything I have carefully seen in little children, not just my two little cousins.

Poetics

The human being is evil by nature, maybe the characteristic that everyone knows from Dark Romanticism. There used to be a Mexican band that almost in every song they talked about pure hate and misfortune in love, this band was called Panda. The main vocalist of the band, who is Jose Madero, is the one that suffered all of this experiences and often says that people are just evil by nature. There is a Panda disc in specific that Jose talks about the negative aspects that human beings have, about all how evil they are and the things they do to show. There is a song in specific that made me think more that it should have, this song is called “Amnistía”. The exact translation of this word is “Amnesty” (according to Google Translate) and means the apology of a crime. This song talks about a Nazi after the 2nd World War, who feels very bad for everything he did and regrets everything he did to the jews. There is a line that goes “I will manifest that lately, indecent things I committed, years ago, they have returned, and they are tormenting me”, here you can see how this soldier is regretting everything he has done, he is obviously trying to be a GOOD person. If he is trying to become a good person, it means that he was just evil and did not care about anything or anybody else. Another song that I think talks about the pure evil of people is “Solo a Terceros”. This song talks about a girl that cheated on his boyfriend, and the boyfriend  just talks about the the he feel towards this girl. There are no Romantic characteristics in this song but it can be inferred that the girl was just evil with this guy and instead of breaking up with him, she just broke his heart, cheated on him, and because of her bad luck he caught her.

The Dark Knight

The Dark knight is the second film of the batman: the dark knight trilogy. This is my favorite movie of all the time and I will talk about some Dark Romanticism aspects. This movie I think covers one of the principal characteristics of this genre, that men are evil by nature. Sometimes in the movies they present the protagonist and the antagonist and show their past, show why they are how they are; The main villain in the movie is the Joker, in this movie they do not show why the Joker is how he is. What this is making all the spectators think, is that he is pure evil, he just wants to watch the world burn. The movie takes action in a fictional dark city called Gotham City, this is where all the Batman’s adventures takes place, this city is mentioned as a “decaying society”, and is full of crime and corruption. Here is where I found another characteristic of Dark Romanticism, the setting being described as a dystopia. The characters in this movie are full of hate, even batman who is the good guy in this movie. Now talking about the Batman, what he tries to do the whole movie is end up with the Joker’s chaos and anarchy and save everyone, it seems to be easy, but he has may obstacles in his way making him fail over and over again. As I said, he is just trying to save his city, but sometimes the people in his city don’t help him to help them, and not even the Police Department, here is the same characteristic of men being evil by nature. This seems like people from Gotham don’t want to be saved and this surely drags Batman down. Another obstacle he has is the Joker’s intelligence, that sometimes seemed to be over his, a good example is when he killed Batman’s love. The Joker in this movie is trying to prove a point, which is that even the best man of all can fall and be trash like him. He showed it when he converted the Mayor candidate that all the city loved into one of Batman’s villains, Two-Face. The Joker tried to show it with Batman by making him break his one and only rule, No-Killing. The joker failed in his attempt and ended up going to prison for all the chaos and anarchy he created in Gotham.

Deadpoet Society

Journal #1:

When I watched this film, I think I got better the idea of Romanticism, I think it was the best way to understand it because it had a good character John Keating could be said to be the protagonist of the movie. It also could be said that his character is a Romantic one and due to that he is very educated. At the beginning, John Keating was just the substitute teacher with different ideas, he was the one that told the students to rip all the pages of the book that told how to see a beautiful was a poem, like how it needed to be, he didn’t like that because he said that poems beauty was just subjective, “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder”. HE taught this students in a way that is against the school beliefs. During all the movie , John was inspiring his students to do all the things that they wanted but they couldn't do it due to all the pressure they had from their parents and the school rules. Neil was one of his students, he always wanted to be a theater actor and John Keating inspired him to be in the Final Play por the theater, he was starring the play. Neil’s parents were putting too much pressure on him and told him that he can't participate on the play but he didn’t care. After he participated on the play, he received even more pressure from his dad and what caused was Neil’s suicide. I think this is a perfect example of transcendentalism, it doesn't include nature in any way but can be related because Neil and the theater were like 1 person, they were one. At the end of the movie after Neil died, John Keating was fired from that school because everyone in the school thought he was making kids mad with his “stupid” ideas and just the kids that were in the deadpoet society were the ones that missed. He was fired because they suspected that all the ideas he taught at the school were dangerous and could only bring bad consequences in every aspect of life. We watched the kids fall in love with the abstract way of poetry. When the society had been shut down by the school Todd, the poet who got more influenced due to his shy personality started a final romantic movement. Todd started a movement to salute his fallen teacher, it is romantic because we as watchers felt that moment deeply.

Best and Worst Weekend

Sometimes life can be really hard, as hard as a car crash. One Saturday, a cousin and me started playing FIFA15 all morning long. When we got bored, we started organizing everything for a party, everything about clothes, food, our hotel room, etc. I drove him to the hotel, and then to Dairy Queen because, due to his luck, there is no Dairy Queen in Queretaro. It was 7pm, so guests started arriving to the party. So the friends I invited, which were Carlos, Amiran, Alberto and Fran arrived, and we started doing our mess. We had a really good time.

On Sunday, when all woke up, and were all hungry. We decided to go for some gorditas. When we were at the car (near Senderos), we made a turn in the car, and some distracted dude crashed on the right side of my car, I was with my friends previously mentioned, and we got scared, that’s all I will say. Even though we were scared, I always see the funny side of everything, so I was laughing. It was a nice weekend. I think I’m gonna write a book of every weekend of 10th grade, I’m having a lot of nice weekends.

My Best Day

My best day

I guess that my best day this year was 1 day before halloween this year (2015). I went to a Robotics event, to Instituto Frances de la Laguna. I really thought that it was going to be lame, but it was all the opposite, it was really cool. I saw some cousins and had a good time, I knew a lot of people, from different schools. I had a really good time with my friends. Of course, we had some problems with other guys form other schools, that almost costed the place in the Robotics team for a friend of mine.

Not only that day was really cool, I had a good time in Halloween actually, I dressed as my favorite character, the Joker, yes again. We went to Cesar's house and ate a lot of tacos. I met new people too, it was awesome. We went to a party that we weren't invited to and had a good time.
